Associate in Music - Handbell Director (full-time)

FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH in Colorado Springs is a large congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Our music ministry includes a 55-voice adult choir and an equal number of children, youth, and adults who play handbells.

We are seeking a gifted musician who will work alongside our Minister of Worship and Music, providing day-to-day assistance with important worship, musical, and administrative needs. As the successful candidate, you play the piano at an advanced level and will assist with the choir (some accompanying, conducting, and substituting when the Minister of Worship and Music is away). In addition, since our former handbell director recently retired after a 30+ year ministry, you will lead a vibrant handbell program comprising six ensembles and ringers of all ages. Our handbell ensembles play regularly in worship services, minister in the community through outreaches to senior centers and nursing homes – and take the joy of handbells on the road through our annual high school handbell tour. You will also have the opportunity to help in other areas, which could include some combination of the following: playing the organ; singing; participating in our contemporary worship band; teaching children; arranging music; working with sound, recording, lights, video, live streams – and more. As the successful candidate, you are a Spirit-filled Christian believer with a clearly-articulated and visible personal faith in Jesus Christ.

See position description here.
