Social Ministry Organizations
Social Ministry Organizations operate and are governed outside of the Office of the Bishop, but are officially affiliated with the Rocky Mountain Synod and are considered ministries of the synod.
The ELCA and 300 health and human service organizations participate in an alliance known as Lutheran Services in America, which serves more than 6 million people each year in the United States and the Caribbean. That’s one in 50 Americans every year. As part of this alliance and mission, we support more than 285 social ministry organizations affiliated with the ELCA. In the Rocky Mountain Synod, that ministry is lived out through Eben Ezer Care Center, Border Servant Corps, Lutheran Family Services - Rocky Mountain, Global Refuge, and Mosaic.
Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center
Located in Brush, CO, Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center has had a remarkable history since they first opened their doors as a tuberculosis sanatorium over a century ago. The legacy of Pastor Jens Madsen, Sister Anna Poulsen and others has given rise to the outstanding faith-based social ministry that they have become. They offer a multilevel care system that includes independent living, assisted living, an Alzheimer's Neighborhood, hospice, rehabilitation, and in-home services.

Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains
Inspired by the compassionate love of Christ, Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains walks with the vulnerable, through services that heal, strengthen, and provide hope. With offices located in Denver, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Greeley, CO and Albuquerque, and Las Cruces, NM, and services provided in Wyoming, Montana and Western Nebraska, LFSRM now responds to critical social and emotional needs of approximately 30,000 people annually. The issues encountered daily by LFSRM staff and volunteers include unintended pregnancy, family violence, child abuse and neglect, the impact of man-made and natural disasters, older adult isolation, and the plight of refugees and documented immigrants. LFSRM develops and provides programs that not only respond to such issues, but also help to prevent these situations from occurring in the first place.
